Things We Could Do Instead of The Olympics #1

For the cost of the Olympics we could:

  • Give every secondary school in England £352,000 a year every year for ten years to promote sport.
  • Give every secondary school in England an equivalent endowment, leading (at 5% interest) to an annual income of £176,000 a year in perpetuity to promote sport.

So lets not hear any more about how the Olympics are coming to promote sport in the UK.

(12,000,000,000 divided by 3409 secondary schools (source) divided by 10 = £352,000,
£3,520,000 endowment *0.05 = £176,000)

But Labour’s trying to promote patriotic support for the Olympics in a country that it has attacked for eight years. Labour has demonised patriotism has some form of racism-lite and is now paying the price.

We should host the Olympics because we can and it would be great for England to have this world spectacle hosted here.
